Recently one of my cats started peeing on the guest bed. Twice within a week.?

I don't know if it's my girl or boy cat. I think it may be behavioral because we are pulling up the carpet and prepping for painting. There's a lot of dust, sanding going on and floating around. Can this be a cause of the peeing? And what can I do to deter this from happening again?
